OAM S.p.A. is a historic and globally leading company in the design and production of automatic machines primarily for the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, food, and chemical industries. Established in the 1970s, it emerged as one of the main builders of CAM machines.

Over the years, CAM has specialized and established its presence in the global market, becoming a leader for over 70 years in the research and development of packaging solutions.
Founded by Antonio Martelli in 1949, CAM was among the first companies to contribute to the development of what would later become the Italian Packaging Valley in Emilia-Romagna. They created the first cartoning machines to automate the packaging of broth cubes and other products.

The photo shows the ‘PR’ cartoning machine on the right side, and the ‘PM’ machine is exposed on the left side. They were both equipped with intermittent movements but worked at different production speeds.
60's
In 1960, the first vertical cartoning machine, the CAM AV65, was introduced during the Milan Fair.
The underlying mechanisms were deliberately simple yet functional and reliable: the machine automatically extracted and formed the carton from the “storage” using an exclusive “spade” volume placing system. It could automatically insert the leaflet inside the carton, print production data, and close the carton after loading the product. The machine could handle a wide range of formats, adapting to different production needs. It was a remarkable success, and from that moment onwards, both the AV65 and other cartoning machine models began to be marketed globally.
70's
In the 1970s, based on CAM’s experience and development, OAM S.p.A. was established to meet the growing market demands. New facilities were set up to optimize production processes, increase machine production, pursue constant research and development, and customize “special” machines.
80's - 90's
In the 1980s and 1990s, leveraging on the acquired know-how, OAM S.p.A. designed, patented, and industrialized unique innovative technical solutions that revolutionized the cartoning processes worldwide. Positive carton volume placing devices, carton closure groups, product introduction systems, rapid format change Mechanical Memory, standard and special feeding groups are some of the significant examples.

In the 2000s, OAM S.p.A. proudly developed and put into production the fastest cartoning machine ever: the “KO” (high-speed horizontal cartoning machine with continuous mechanical movements) can reach a speed of 1100 cartons per minute.
Today
OAM S.p.A. can meet the supply demands for over 200 machines per year.
To maintain high-quality standards, OAM S.p.A. proudly produces approximately 70% of the mechanical components internally and controls, tests, and certifies external supplies inside the plants.
The design, assembly, and finishing of every component, group, or machine have always taken place within controlled production processes in their Pianoro (BO) facilities.
